BAPTISIM

Why get water baptized?
Jesus Himself was baptized in Gospel of Matthew (3:13–15), and He commands us to baptize others (28:19–20). In obedience to His Word, we baptize by full immersion.

Baptism is a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ. It is a believer’s way of telling the world, “I belong to Him” (Matthew 10:32).

Baptism does not make someone a Christian — it is a testimony that they already are one. We are saved by grace through faith in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8–9). Baptism is symbolic: an outward expression of the inward transformation that has already taken place.

Through baptism, we identify with Jesus in His death, burial, and resurrection. As the Apostle Paul writes in Epistle to the Romans 6:3–4, being baptized represents dying to our old life of sin and being raised to walk in new life through Christ. Going down into the water symbolizes burial; rising out of it symbolizes resurrection and new life.

Baptism is a powerful step of obedience — a celebration that the old is gone and the new life in Christ has begun.
